  The food was amazing and very fresh! Perfect use of the vegetables' natural taste with just a hint of seasoning. Same with the chicken. Fresh, flavorful, not over seasoned or over done. Artfully crafted.

  This restaurant feels hidden among the shops in downtown Hickory but it's definitely worth trying. The grilled chicken was slightly overcooked but it was well seasoned and enjoyable. The fries were crispy but the fried okra was my favorite part of the meal - it was prepared perfectly.
  
  The house made BBQ sauce is not the typical sugar/ketchup blend, it surprised me at first but I liked it the more I tried it.
  
  The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, we discussed their use of products available from the Farmer's Market and other local sources. The interior has a warm feeling with local artwork (available for purchase) on the walls.
  
  I will certainly return with my family.

  My husband and I had lunch and dessert at the Fresh Depot yesterday. The moment we walked in we were greeted with a very friendly employee. The atmosphere is cozy and colorful with colorful paintings. We are not from Hickory but on occasion we do business in Hickory. We had time to spare and ventured into the Fresh Depot only for coffee. We decided to get a bite to eat and are we happy we did!! The food was great! We had an egg sandwich with bacon. The Fresh baked bread was good and the bacon was not overdone and it was plentiful. We added onion rings that they make from scratch there. We commented on how the grease tasted fresh on the onion rings. It is our worst fear to get an old oil taste on anything deep fried. We can always tell when oil is old. Here it was NOT old! In fact, we mentioned that it was not old tasting and the chef smiled and stated that it in fact had been changed that day. We had Fresh banana cake with frosting and a huge red velvet cupcake which had fresh butter cream frosting, too! Was so yummy that we took home 4 slices of banana cake home for dinner. We will be back next time we are in Hickory, NC! Our wish is that the locals in the area keep going there so this great restaurant stays busy till the next time we are in town!!!

  We had a large party of 12 people and called ahead to make a reservation for an office lunch. We waited for an hour for our food, watching tables that were seated after we were have their orders taken, eat, pay their bill, and leave. After complaining to the manager, we were given excuses from a manager who did not seem at all concerned with our experience. We were told that they were "doing the best they can." The food was good, but I would not return. I will also suggest to coworkers not to dine here for lunch as it takes too long.
